Mountain lions in the Poconos

The Pocono Record has recently run two articles on the mountain lion in Pennsylvania here, and here.

The 1874 extinction date is a bit odd, as there's no less than 22 cougar kills after the Hawk Mountain (Berks) kill that year, placing the date at 1917 at the earliest.

  1. That's really weird and cool. I'm sure it's not going to be uncommon for these animals to move into new territories with their territories running out of resources. I believe they finally proved black panthers in Arizona recently after years of people reporting them and everyone saying "oh, they're far south, they'd never be up there."
